11th Annual Arlington Jazz Festival in April
Mark your calendars for the 11th Annual Arlington Jazz Festival, this year with the grand finale concert to be held live and in person at the Regent Theatre.
Joining the festival’s headliner, multi-Grammy trumpeter Randy Brecker, is fellow Grammy-winning drummer Mark Walker, who has put together an all-star band with Alain Mallet (keyboards), Oscar Stagnaro (bass) , Ernesto Diaz (percussion) and Edmar Colón (sax).
Dan Fox, founder of the annual jazz festival, has managed to schedule virtual and live performances, with live events on site adhering to current health and safety protocols.
The Regent Theater has also risen to the occasion in these unprecedented times, being a safe and risk-free venue for all on-site events. All necessary protocols will be in place for the festival.

Performer/songwriter Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for over four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums with a wide range of artists, including his work with his brother Michael, as well as James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Parliament/Funkadelic, Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius and Frank Zappa. Walker is a multi-Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning drummer, composer, songwriter, and professor of percussion at Berklee College of Music. He has also been on the faculty of the Drummers Collective in New York and has conducted master classes, clinics and workshops in South America, North America and Europe, as a solo artist and with bands. such as Oregon, Paquito D’Rivera Quintet, the Caribbean Jazz Project, Sakesho, Lyle Mays Quartet, Chucho Valdes and Bill Watrous. The non-profit organization Arlington Jazz is coordinated with the help of Arlington’s Morningside Music Studio (morningsidemusicstudio.com) under the direction of Fox, a local, multi-instrumentalist and music teacher.
The Arlington Jazz Festival has been held annually since 2012, usually in April, known internationally as Jazz Appreciation Month. Since 2018, Arlington Jazz has also embarked on presenting a series of additional workshops and concerts throughout the year. Many events are either free or have a minimal entry cost.
The 2022 Arlington Jazz Festival is funded in part by the Arlington Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Arlington Jazz also relies on generous donations from its growing fan base.
