American trumpeter Keyon Harrold and saxophonist Binker Golding complete the Brighton Jazz Festival line-up


The booming South Coast Jazz Weekend has announced the final names for its 2022 event which will run from September 29 to October 2.

The complete program has just been announced for this year Brighton Jazz Festivalwhich takes place from Thursday September 29 at Sunday October 2 in the spectacular setting of Horatio’s bar on Brighton Palace Pierand now includes the widely acclaimed American trumpeter Cleon Harrold and saxophonist signed Gearbox Binder Golding.

Produced by Brighton’s new generation jazz team, which runs the New Generation Jazz stage at Love Supreme Jazz Festival, the New Gen Jazz Festival at Ropetackle and a jazz summer school at The Verdict jazz club, this second edition of the festival features a winning combination of international names and nationals, as well as new local bands and artists through ticketed evening concerts, free daytime shows and masterclasses.

The line-up is as follows:

Thursday, September 29: Brighton Jazz All-Stars (3 p.m., free); Tony Kofi and NYJO Present Monk at City Hall (8 p.m.); Julian Nicholas Quartet (9:30 p.m.).

friday september 20: Changyng Same (1:45 p.m., free); Giwha & Audi Active present Jazz-Hop (3 p.m., free); Ife Ogunjobi (8 p.m.); PYJEAN (9:30 p.m.)

Saturday 1 Oct: Laurance Jones (12:30 p.m., free); Not King Cole (1:45 p.m., free); Tomorrow’s Warriors presents Mingus Moves by Gary Crosby (8 p.m.) Keyon Harrold (9:30 p.m.)

Sunday October 2; Squint (12:30 p.m., free); Jazz Futures presents LP Quartet (1 p.m., free); WE-Bop Jazz Choir (2 p.m., free); Dave Williams Experience (3 p.m., free); Binker Golding & All Star Band (8 p.m.); Chelsea Carmichael (October 1); Keyon Harrold is also giving a special masterclass at the nearby Verdict Jazz Club on Sunday, October 2 from 12-1:30 p.m.
