Tony and Chita in the Berkshires! “Cabaret,” Kander and Ebb’s landmark musical, whose stunning film adaptation by Bob Fosse opened 50 years ago, returns to the stage as the opening musical of Goodspeed’s summer season, May 13-3 July. “Cabaret” will be directed by James Vásquez, with choreography by Lainie Sakakura, who will re-enact some of Bob Fosse’s dances from the film. “Cabaret” opened on Broadway in 1966, starring Lotte Lenya, Jill Haworth and Joel Gray (who starred alongside Liza Minnelli in the film). “Cabaret” has been revived twice on Broadway with Alan Cumming, in a version that combines elements from the original musical and the film.
