Coastal Jazz and Blues Society IronFest concerts will feature talent from the South Fraser region.
The inaugural fall jazz concert series will take place November 18-20 at The Ironworks (235 Alexander St., Vancouver), with six performances over three evenings.
Starring: Bill Coon Quartet with Campbell Ryga, Emad Armoush’s Rayhan, Krystle Dos Santos, Handmade Blade, Jodi Proznick: New Horizons and How to Do Nothing by James Meger.
Raised in White Rock, Proznick’s New Horizons project stars Chris Davis on trumpet, Tilden Webb on keys, and Nick Bracewell on drums. They will explore the jazz repertoire of albums such as Fat Albert Rotunda and Empyrean Isles by Herbie Hancock, United by Woody Shaw, Gnu High by Kenny Wheeler and ESP by Miles Davis, as well as new originals.
Familiar with audiences in the Surrey area, singer Krystle Dos Santos “absorbs classical and neo-soul as well as jazz and R&B into her inviting sound,” notes a biography on coastjazz.ca.
“We are delighted to return to live performances in a way more in line with our regular offerings,” said Rainbow Robert, general manager of artistic programming for Coastal Jazz. “The Ironworks is Vancouver’s coolest space to see a live performance, and with this variety of programming, we hope everyone comes to experience it. “
